Fine Watch Club: behind the scenes of the watch industry ?
Welcome to the official website of the Fine Watch Club, the first international multi-brand watch owners’ club. The club, based at the heart of the luxury watch world in Geneva, is intended for anyone with an interest in fine watchmaking. As the club’s founder, and a devotee of the values of mechanical watchmaking for 20 years, allow me to tell you a little more about the philosophy of the Fine Watch Club.
The expertise and trust of the watch industry
First of all, let me assure you that the club has a solid foundation and some unique attributes. The initiative is neither impulsive nor opportunistic; it is merely the logical continuation of my activities working alongside the watch industry for the last 20 years. It is a long-term endeavour that will serve the needs of both watch buyers and watch brands. As an entrepreneur and a lover of fine watches, I co-founded GMT Magazine in 2000. The magazine has since become the publication of reference for the Swiss watch media, with dedicated issues from the Middle East to Africa, plus a large format international special issue, GMT XXL World. On a different note, in 2012 I set up the Geneva Watch Tour, which has become a mainstay for Geneva’s many business, institutional and leisure visitors. In an attempt to share my passion in a more creative way with the broader international community of watch owners, in 2018 I also created the Watch Photo Awards – a watch photography competition open to the general public. The authors of the 60 finalist photos saw their work exhibited at Geneva’s Museum of Art and History in November. In 2014, GMT Publishing, our publishing house, bought and developed WorldTempus.com, a website launched in 2001 by 30 watch brands. It has since become Europe’s leading watch news site in three languages, and counts 80 luxury watch brands as partners. GMT and WorldTempus are the media partners of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, Baselworld and the SIHH and many more watch events around the world. This world of luxury watch brands has begun to generate exclusive offers for members of the Fine Watch Club, the first of which will be available by the summer of 2019. After one-of-a-kind pieces come limited editions
The process of creating exclusive limited editions with luxury watch brands for members of the Fine Watch Club is not completely new to us. In recent years we have designed one-of-a-kind pieces for our readers, in cooperation with around 15 watch brands, in a range of prices from CHF 3,000 to 42,000. There has been something to suit all tastes: Anonimo, Bell & Ross, Bulgari, Chopard, Eberhard, Frédérique Constant, Graham, Hublot, Rebellion, TAG Heuer, Tiffany, Ulysse Nardin, Urban Jurgensen, Vacheron Constantin and Zenith. In most cases the venture was a first. I’d like to thank the brands once again for their trust, and for the wonderful times we spent together, creating a unique dial design for one of their flagship models. These 15 collaborative ventures with the product development and design teams of brands of all sizes, constituted an amazing learning journey, and provided invaluable experience in terms of designing limited editions for our Fine Watch Club members. A bridge between lovers of fine watches and watchmakers
Members of the Fine Watch Club can expect privileged access behind the scenes of the watch industry: previews, visits to manufactures, invitations to private events, access to exclusive services, products and accessories and, of course, watches – extremely limited editions reserved for the Fine Watch Club, not forgetting luxury watches sold at a serious discount. Every week, members of the Fine Watch Club will have access to these private sales, but you’ll have to be quick because availability will necessarily be restricted. In turn, the watchmakers appreciate the contact with end clients, and the opportunity to get to know them better. That, in a nutshell, is what the Fine Watch Club will be offering each month. Time is money
In order to become a member of the Fine Watch Club, all you have to do is register. It’s absolutely free to join until the end of 2018. Beginning in January 2019, three tiers of membership will be available, with three different price structures that will determine the nature and quantity of benefits the members have access to. The highest tier will also give its members a time advantage over the others, by giving them early access to private sales. These members will also enjoy many other benefits. But you only have a limited time to register for free.
Fine Watch Club Manager
Members of the Fine Watch Club will have a dedicated contact person. For several months we have been interviewing watch industry professionals, to find the person who best shares our vision for the club. The club manager must obviously have a deep-seated interest in watches, a gift for communication and service, knowledge of the products and a creative urge. This bilingual watch lover with an appreciation for digital technology will help to create the club’s sense of community. I can’t wait to organise the first events with them, and begin setting up our first private sales.
